ANN MACKIN — Commissioner 2011
Ann Mackin has been a Berwyn resident since 1951. When NBPD was established in 1976, Ann began serving as Board Secretary while continuing to raise three daughters. In 1977 she was successfully elected to the Board of commissioners and has served continuously as Commissioner since that time. Ann’s current term is thru 2011. She is a parishioner of St. Mary of Celle Church. Her hobbies include taking trips with Club 55 as well as attending school and sporting activities with her seven grandchildren.

MARK SLADEK — Commissioner 2013
Mark was appointed to the board in November 1998. Born in Berwyn, raised in Cicero, and has since moved back to Berwyn where he lives with his wife, Loretta, and daughters Stephanie and Carol. Mark graduated from Morton East High School and received his bachelor of science in recreation administration from George Williams College. He is currently employed with the Forest Preserve District of Cook County Finance and Administration Department as a Administrative Analyst. As a commissioner Mark feels he can contribute to the community by utilizing his background in park & recreation. And also that the quality and professionally operated programs and facilities of the North Berwyn Park District are an important asset to residents of the area.

JEANMARIE HAJER — Commissioner 2011
Jeanmarie was elected commissioner in 2005. She is the Director of Community Outreach for the City of Berwyn and chaired Berwyn’s award winning National Night Out event held each year in August recently winning 1st Place in the State and 21st in the Nation for cities our size. She also co-chaired the city’s Centennial Events in 2008. She is confident the North Berwyn Park District will continue providing the residents with quality programs, activities and events. Jeanmarie is proud to have helped facilitate the intergovernmental agreement with the City of Berwyn on the Berwyn Senior/Cultural Center that houses the 16th Street Theater.

JACK LOPEZ — Commissioner 2015
Jack has been a resident of Berwyn since 1989. He has been a member of BHO and also was a former treasurer. He is a Transportation Coordinator for Senior Advocate with a major health care group which services seven facilities. He is also a CNA and is certified CPR Jack is looking forward to bringing new ideas for expanding new programs and opportunities to the park district that will reach out to our residents needs.
Hobbies include Vintage Cars, Old Western Movies, Antique shopping.
Sports: Golf, bowling, horse back riding and fishing. |

JOSEPH C. VALLEZ — Executive Director
Joseph C. Vallez was hired as executive director and officially began his new position on October 23, 2000. Previously he served as Area Manager in the Southwest Region of the Chicago Park District. He began his career with the Chicago Park District in 1985, and from there served as Superintendent of Recreation and Director of Parks and Recreation at the Chicago Ridge Park District. Mr. Vallez has won several awards including the American G.I. Forum Community Service Award in 1995 and the Community Collaboration Award from the Chicago Park District in 1992. Mr. Vallez has presented on several topics at professional conferences and served as a panelist on the Governors Council for Gang Prevention.
