A free monthly storytelling event hosted by 2-time Moth winner Errol McLendon

Everyone tells stories. At family gatherings. In bars and coffee shops. Here is your opportunity to share your personal stories with your community. Stories can be funny or poignant. About love or tragedy, or maybe both. They can be about something you learned or something you wish you had never done. Something historic you witnessed or were a part of.

If you would like to participate in our upcoming Jams please submit a description of a 7 - 8 minute story you would like to tell to errol.mclendon@gmail.com to be included in an evening of friends sharing stories with friends. First time tellers are welcomed and encouraged.

A free Zoom workshop will be offered two weeks prior to each show to help enhance your story in a relaxed, informal environment. One-on-one coaching will also be available.

October Story Tellers

Victoria Montalbano is an actor, solo performer, and recovering improvisor. Her solo show, The Princess Strikes Back: One Woman's Search for the Space Cowboy of her Dreams, has toured the Fringe Festival Circuit to critical acclaim and is available for streaming until the end of the year.

Shawn Cobb has worn many hats over the years, working jobs ranging from forklift operator to Cosmetologist and pretty much everything in between. He finally settled in at the railroad where has worked as a mechanic for over 15 years.

However it was through Toastmasters that he first found his voice as a storyteller. For Shawn, to be vulnerable while operating from a place of love has proven to be the perfect counterbalance to the sometimes harsh and less forgiving conditions of the railroad. He aspires to inspire through life experiences and stories that find and exposes that common thread that binds us all.

Lee Melchior is a longtime Chicago storyteller, producer and open-mic-host. Like so many of us, Lee’s life changed during the pandemic. She stepped away from her 23 year Executive Coaching practice, a business that took her around the world several times from London to Dubai to South Korea as well as traveling in 40 U.S. states. Now Lee is taking time to get to know her hometown.  Not retired. Reinvented.  She is writing and exploring Chicago, hiking our lake front and forest preserve trails and telling stories throughout the city.

Clarence Hogan AKA "SoNNY" has been making people laugh his entire life. Being the only male sandwiched between two demanding sisters has enhanced Sonny's comedic abilities; it was either laugh or cry. As a teacher/instructor in the urban community he has gained priceless experiences that are incorporated into his material.

Joy Wright is a best-of-the-net nominated writer, storyteller, activist, nonprofit fundraiser, and mom. Her publications include HuffPost, Creative Nonfiction, and a column in Rebellious Magazine. She’s most proud of successfully completing the Sexier Than a Squirrel training with her pandemic puppy and is currently obsessed with training her cat to fetch.

Simi Krishnan is a mom to two rambunctious kids, a 14 and 8 year old, and wife to a Star Trek fiend!! By day she wears a data and analytics cape, leading analytics in the pharmaceutical industry, and by night she is a producer of The People Tree, a live storytelling show which takes place the third Thursday of every month, located in Naperville!
