1st Monday's "Let Me Tell You!" A Curated Story Telling Jam

1st Monday of each month storytelling event hosted by 2-time Moth winner Errol McLendon

Everyone tells stories. At family gatherings. In bars and coffee shops. Here is your opportunity to share your personal stories with your community. Stories can be funny or poignant. About love or tragedy, or maybe both. They can be about something you learned or something you wish you had never done. Something historic you witnessed or were a part of.

Submit a description of a 7 - 8 minute story you would like to tell to errol.mclendon@gmail.com to be included in an evening of friends sharing stories with friends. First time tellers are welcomed and encouraged.

A free Zoom workshop will be offered two weeks prior to each show to help enhance your story in a relaxed, informal environment. One-on-one coaching will also be available.

                                                                                            Instructor: Errol McLendon

Days: Mondays
Dates: 5/6, 6/3, 7/1, 8/5, 9/9

Lessons my Mother Taught Me

Solo Performance written and performed by Mary Olivieri

Mary Olivieri

(Betty, herself, author, producer) is a writer and comedienne – having induced hilarity from New York to Chicago. A student of Second City, she is the co-creator of The Spew and The League of Improv Heroes. She has been an ensemble member of many improv companies including It’s Knot Theatre at the Knitting Factory, NYC; The Comedy Shrine in Naperville & Aurora; as well as with many Chicago companies including: The Free Associates – Cast on a Hot Tin Roof, As We Like It, B.S. and many others. Other Chicago stage credits include: Molly/Peggy in Damage Control, Tina Baritone in The Baritones, Scary Bradshaw in Sex in the Suburbs, and Marion Hollander in Don’t Drink The Water – all with Noble Fool. Film credits include: Dean Hilfner in Art House – starring Greta Gerwig and Iggy Pop; Betty Vindaloo in Stash, written and directed by NY Times best-selling author Jay Bonansinga (The Walking Dead) and starring Tim Kazurinsky and Marilyn Chambers. Mary holds a degree in English and Theatre from Southern Connecticut State University. She would like to thank her son Gage for allowing her the privilege of being his mother and her Mom – Betty – who inspires her every day. She would like to blame (and probably eventually thank) Michele Dimaso for making her do this.

Come honor mothers everywhere with this sometimes funny-and truly poignant-look at the complicated dynamic of mother-daughter relationships.
