October Story Tellers
Pamela Schumacher
Pamela Schumacher is a creative and passionate storyteller who grew up on a farm in rural Iowa as the seventh of ten kids—smack in the middle and always fighting for attention.
She earned her journalism degree from Iowa State University, married her college sweetheart (they’re still happily hitched over 40 years later), raised two kids, and spent years navigating the world of corporate America.
Now proudly “gainfully UNemployed,” Pam fills her days with music, movement, and stories. She sings in an a cappella choir, line dances, and recently completed yoga teacher training.
Her storytelling draws from the chaos and comedy of growing up in a big family, which she shares through the Goodman Theatre’s GeNarrations program, The Moth, People Tree, Fillet of Solo, Westside Improv, the Fox Valley Storytelling Guild, and open mics across Chicago.
Elizabeth Gomez
Elizabeth Gomez is Chicago's favorite idiot. She's sharp, witty, and loves to say the F word. She's written for Chicago Magazine, was featured in Check Please, and has a podcast called Don't Ruin This For Me all about movies from the 80s and 90s that ruined things for her. If that's not enough, she has a substack called Mixed Race Tape and was a founder of the Windy City Rollers, Chicago's first all female roller derby league that just turned TWENTY ONE!
Clarence Hogan AKA "SoNNY"
Clarence Hogan AKA "SoNNY" has been making people laugh his entire life. Being the only male sandwiched between two demanding sisters has enhanced Sonny's comedic abilities; it was either laugh or cry. As a teacher/instructor in the urban community he has gained priceless experiences that are incorporated into his material. Sonny uses his gift to bring healing to the body of Christ. Sonny uses laughter to minister to the Body of Christ and hopes that his ministry to see that they are not alone and to encourage others to continue to fight the good fight of faith.
Sonny believes that we can have fun in the Body of Christ and uses laughter to Minster. All of his material is original and will reflective of a Christian lifestyle and morals.
Gary Wheaton
Gary Wheaton is much older than his headshot leads you on to believe. As a Stand-Up Comedian, he has used the same headshot picture for 30 years. It is a story just waiting for a Storytelling Event. In addition to performing on comedy stages on and off for 30 years, he is also a musician. A stage mishap at age 19 resulted in a delay at a music show, which caused Gary to "kill time" on the microphone. This led to his love of holding the microphone and telling jokes and stories. A product of the Southside and long time Western Suburban resident.
Willa Taylor
Willa Taylor is a grown-ass woman who is old enough to know better and not care
Gloria Rabil
Gloria Rabil is a writing and storytelling coach and owner of Prose Story Consulting, LLC. Her storytelling journey began with improv. It was a natural transition from improvising narratives on stage to crafting true, personal stories. Gloria spends her days helping writers bring their projects to life or reviving the ones they keep meaning to finish. She is one of the producers of Testify ATX, Austin's longest-running storytelling show.
